When I was first planning to do a series of posts about my senior trip to Italy, I naively intended to start said series immediately after returning from Europe.
Apparently, I didn’t even consider the possibility of jet lag, which has actually turned out to be pretty rough. It also probably didn’t help that we took an extra day to get home because we missed our connection in Paris and had to stay the night. Now, if you’re thinking that getting stuck in Paris sounds fun and whimsical, like a good romcom set-up, a la Roman Holiday…I hate to disappoint, but it was not that.
Thankfully, we’re home now, and summer here is marvelous. It’s the perfect time for reading, enjoying the sunshine, and swimming in the lake. Of course, it’s still a novel feeling to actually have free time! After an incredibly intense school year, I’ve had a hard time convincing my brain that I don’t have any papers to write or exams to cram for.
But, despite the magic of an Idaho summer, I left my heart in San Fra–sorry, Italy. Our two weeks there were absolutely life-changing. I learned so much and experienced so many beautiful things. We actually drove around 1000 miles while were there, visiting Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Umbria, and Tuscany.
Now that we’ve been back for a week, and the leftover jet lag is finally abating, I’m finally ready (at least I think I am) to get started on “the Italy series.” I wanted to write this little introduction/a few disclaimers so you know what to expect.
- I will be writing one (1) post per day of the trip. Which, yes, is a lot, but it will hopefully keep everything streamlined.
- I did take my Nikon on the trip, but I didn’t have it on me 100% of the time, and I was typically juggling my Nikon and my phone camera, so you may see a mixture of photos from both cameras.
- Consistency is…not my forte, so please have mercy if the posts aren’t uploaded according to schedule.
I think that’s everything? Italy was indescribably wonderful and I’m so excited to share all the photos and stories.
Until next time.
